Self Esteem
Self-esteem is our sense of worth. Think of it as a personal evaluation of who we are that is often neither fair nor objective. This can result in a negative relationship with ourselves that can damage our relationships, careers, and overall quality of life. This can also develop into unhealthy behaviours such as crime, addiction, or compulsive behaviour. In addition, it can cause long term depression, shame, and anxiety. Our internal self-dialogue is our enemy here and CBT can be helpful in helping people develop new healthy beliefs about themselves and develop resilience to maintain the new belief.
