REBT (CBT)
Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy is one of the main schools of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. It is philosophical, evidence based and supported by clinical research. REBT is also recognised by both NICE and the NHS. REBT looks at the person as a whole rather than as a symptom and teaches a model that can be successfully applied to a wide range of different emotional issues and offers a therapeutic structure which helps clients achieve long lasting emotional and behavioural change. CBT’s most important insight is that it is not the things that happen to us that make us feel good or bad, but rather the way that we interpret them – the meaning that we give to them – that guides how we feel. This explains why two people experiencing the same event can react to it in completely different ways. CBT can help people make sense of the underlying core beliefs that keeps them stuck!
